Canada Selects Site for New Bridge Crossing
Canada is proposing that a new highway bridge connecting Canada and the United States be placed about two miles from the crowded Ambassador Bridge, linking Detroit and Windsor, Ontario.
Once approved, the Canadian transport department estimates it will take four to five years to design and build the six-lane structure, a 132-acre Customs plaza and 29 vehicle inspection lanes.
The bridge is part of plans to reduce congestion at U.S.-Canada crossings.
Department of Energy Ups its Estimates on Fuel Prices
The Department of Energy estimates diesel fuel will average $4.32 a gallon for 2008 and will remain near $4.71 for the next few months. This is in contrast to the $3.94 a gallon for 2008 which the agency projected in May 2008.
During 2007, diesel averaged $2.88 a gallon. The agency says the increases "reflect strength in diesel demand, particularly in emerging markets, that has significantly increased the margins between diesel prices and crude oil costs from those of last year." Return to Top |
